Good morning, Lord.
I feel just a little bit “off” this morning, Father. Please set me right. If there is resistance in me, please help me to find what I am holding onto, and give it to you. I do not desire to cling to anything but you, my Shepherd. I want my hands to be free to do your will, and my heart to be courageous enough to carry it out, and my mind to be obedient and clear. I give all these things to you, Mighty God, and ask you to bless myself, my husband, and each one of my children with an awesome day spent living for you! Please let each one of us come to know you just a little more this day. Thank you, Lord! 😀
James 4:10-17 ERV
Be humble before the Lord, and he will make you great.
Brothers and sisters, don’t say anything against each other. If you criticize your brother or sister in Christ or judge them, you are criticizing and judging the law they follow. And when you are judging the law, you are not a follower of the law. You have become a judge.
God is the one who gave us the law, and he is the Judge. He is the only one who can save and destroy. So it is not right for you to judge anyone.
Some of you say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to some city. We will stay there a year, do business, and make money.” Listen, think about this:
You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Your life is like a fog. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away.
So you should say, “If the Lord wants, we will live and do this or that.”
But now you are proud and boast about yourself. All such boasting is wrong.
If you fail to do what you know is right, you are sinning.
Lord, there are things I THINK I NEED to do, to accomplish, to increase my income and become more independent, get my car working again, and be able to visit my sons and help my daughter get settled this fall in her own place. However, I know that income and independence are not what I TRULY need, for all I really need is dependence upon you. Jesus, I ask you to make yourself known to me this day, remind me of your place in my life at little moments throughout this day. Help me to remember you, to look to you, to be led of you. I don’t want to be a foolish sheep and run off into my own pasture where my Shepherd did not lead me! Help me be humble before you, my Lord!
