Good morning, Father.
Thank you for your enduring patience with me. I thank you that I can count on you to grow me and keep me faithful and strong — I don’t need to do it all by myself. Please help me look to you to meet my needs, instead of foolishly trying to push my way forward on my own strength. Help me to relax under your loving and capable touch, not to resist you, but instead to accept your will for me, and how you have made me, and what you give me to do. Help me to see that I do not need to believe in myself, only in you. I do not need to please myself or anyone else — just you. Thank you, Lord!
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 ERV
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit.
There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord.
And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything.
Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each one to help others.
The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak with wisdom. And the same Spirit gives another person the ability to speak with knowledge.
The same Spirit gives faith to one person and to another he gives gifts of healing.
The Spirit gives to one person the power to do miracles, to another the ability to prophesy, and to another the ability to judge what is from the Spirit and what is not. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages, and to another the ability to interpret those languages.
One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things. The Spirit decides what to give each one.
Lord, I thank you that you HAVE given me spiritual gifts, as you have to everyone else. I can count on that as a fact, because you say it is so. But Father, I cannot see clearly what gifts you have given me, to help others. This is one of those days when I wake up feeling like I’ve fallen behind, and I desire to rush forward, to catch up. Yet I do not know in which direction to run. I must wait on you. Meanwhile, I feel like a failure, like my lack of clarity is causing me to be lazy, just waiting here for your direction. I do not want to disappoint you, Father. I want to be faithful. Please show me how to serve you today, Lord. Please give me clarity and the courage to do your will. Amen.
