Good morning, Father!
Thank you so much for caring for me intimately, meeting me right where I am and carrying me forward! Thank you for the comfort I received from your Spirit early this morning, giving me a glimpse of the work you are doing in my life and marriage. Please be with my husband today, and grow him for you. Thank you for being with me today, and growing me for you — you are awesome! 😀
Ephesians 2:8-10 ERV
I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believed. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God.
You are not saved by the things you have done, so there is nothing to boast about.
God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 ISV
For we are God’s masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to perform good actions that God prepared long ago to be our way of life.
Ephesians 2:10 KJV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Haha, what a difference between translations here! God made us what we are (kinda dull, featureless wording)… We are God’s masterpiece (much better!)… We are his workmanship (most familiar, at least to me). Now, ready for a surprise? The word translated “what we are” and “masterpiece” and “workmanship” in the 3 versions above is the Greek work poiema — a POEM! We are God’s POEM!! And not just any poem, not just one thrown down onto the paper haphazardly. For this word means a product or a fabric. Picture God choosing individual threads and weaving them carefully, intricately, intimately, into the fabric that is each one of His beloved children. He forms us, deliberately, lovingly. As a master poet who takes their time to get just the right words in just the right order, with the just perfect rhythm and timing… THAT is how our God forms us, weaving in His refined threads of gold and silver and LOVE! 😀
This is especially cool for me to have happened across this verse again now, for my son just started a blog, LibrariumRandulfr, through which he shares his own poetry and other writings.
AND God recently gifted me with a treasured friend who also writes poetry.
AND the comfort and reassurance the Spirit gave me this morning had very much to do with how HE is writing this book (my life), and I am just the main character in my personal version of it. Thank you, Lord! :O>
