Lord, please help me not to fall into the trap of anguish and concern over things I really cannot contol. In fact, there seems to be very little I CAN control right now, and we are spiralling toward the Unknown at break-neck speed. Things seem to be getting worse instead of better right now, and there is a very real chance that it may get quite a bit worse yet, in the coming weeks. I am frightened, Lord. Please help me to keep trusting you, as my heart sincerely does. Help me to not get overwhelmed by how things SEEM, but rather to focus on the FACT that you have never let me down, that I have always had ENOUGH, always had what I NEED. I haven’t been painfully hungry or deathly cold in a great many years, and to be honest, even in my most desperate moments I was sustained by your comforting Spirit. So all is well.

Psalm 119:80-93 ERV

Let me obey your laws perfectly so that I will not be ashamed.
I feel weaker and weaker as I wait for you to save me. But I put my trust in your word.
I keep looking for what you promised, but my eyes are feeling tired. When will you comfort me?
Even when I am like a dried wineskin on the trash pile, I will not forget your laws.
How long must I wait for you to punish those who persecute me?
Proud people have tried to trap me and make me disobey your teachings.
All your commands can be trusted. Those people are wrong to persecute me. Help me!
They have almost destroyed me, but I have not stopped obeying your instructions.
Show me your faithful love and let me live. I will do whatever you say.
LORD, your word continues forever in heaven.
You are loyal forever and ever. You made the earth, and it still stands.
All things continue today because of your laws. Like slaves, they all obey you.
If I had not found joy in your teachings, my suffering would have destroyed me.
I will never forget your commands, because through them you gave me new life.

Lord, I thank you for restoring to me a great deal of hope and even JOY, while I read your Word outloud to my Mate and we shared some fellowship and closeness. I thank you that you give each of your people different perspectives, different strengths and weaknesses, so that we can encourage each other. Thank you for giving a measure of wisdom to each of us, so that we help each other remember what is truly important in this world — serving you and helping other people. Help us not to focus on our own comfort or lack thereof, but rather to be grateful that we still have our lives, our health, our faith. Help us each to grow in wisdom and to accept your peace and provision. Please bless each of my children with a better understanding of you and your ways, Lord. I lift each of them up to you, from within my heart. I trust you completely, faithful Shepherd.
