Lord, I thank you for placing my best friend, Mate, and husband upon this earth 49 years ago today! Thank you for giving me a choice, so that I could choose him above all others, for he is truly my favorite of all your creations, and I enjoy him more even than trees and mushrooms and mountains and elephant shrews — even more than the loveliest breeze or the deepest bass drum, LOL. Father, I wish that I had money so that I could give him the thing he wants most right now — the stability of our OWN (mobile) place to sleep, and money in the bank which would give him a feeling of relief. Father, I don’t even have enough money to buy him a cheesecake, but YOU own everything in this world, AND you know his heart even better than I do myself, so I ask you to bless him in your own special way this day, giving him what he truly does need. I pray for his peace and lightness and freedom, Lord. And I ask you to give him an assurance of your presence and your care. Please guide us to the right people at the right times, to get work or other means of support and growth, to move forward in this crazy life you have chosen for us, this amazing story you are writing. Thank you for entrusting me with this awesome man, Lord. And thank you so much for showing me how I can contribute best to his lightness and freedom — by enjoying every moment and not bringing heaviness and confusion by trying to figure things out myself. Help me to always be humble and teachable and free and light myself, Lord. Amen.

1 Peter 3:1-7 ERV

In the same way, you wives should be willing to serve your husbands. Then, even those who have refused to accept God’s teaching will be persuaded to believe because of the way you live. You will not need to say anything.
Your husbands will see the pure lives that you live with respect for God.
It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful.
No, your beauty should come from inside you—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear. It is worth very much to God.
It was the same with the holy women who lived long ago and followed God. They made themselves beautiful in that same way. They were willing to serve their husbands.
I am talking about women like Sarah. She obeyed Abraham, her husband, and called him her master. And you women are true children of Sarah if you always do what is right and are not afraid.
In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. You should show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing he gives you—the grace of true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers from being heard.

Lord, I thank you for all the awesome mercies and blessings you have given me in my life, the best of which are my two husbands — one eternal, one temporal, and both of which make my life have meaning and direction. Thank you for making me humble enough to serve, rather than to be a woman out of balance, trying to serve my own interests above those of my husbands. I was not always able to receive your truth and your reproof, my Lord, so I thank you for GROWTH — and for your awesome longsuffering patience with stubborn little me. I just cannot thank you enough for the mercy you have shown my Mate, all the times that you have saved us both from death or damage, all the little ways in which you touch our hearts, encouraging us forward. And I thank you, on a much more personal level, for all the tiny little warmths and cozinesses within my heart, given to me by just living with this awesome man whom I’ve known for 34 years now, from the delightful warm lump in my bed to lean against, to the strong will I constantly butt against that holds its own every time, except when YOU move his heart to be humble and yield. I truly could ask for no better a companion, Lord, thank you! If there was not worry about where we will sleep and what we will eat, I believe this life could possibly be altogether too sweet and lovely. Therefore I thank you for our struggles and trials as well, knowing not only that you use them for our benefit, but also that as one struggle ceases, one battle won, you will provide just what we each need next, for our growth both together and individually on our walks with you. Thank you for your awesome daily care, faithful Shepherd. Amen. 😀
