Ouch ouch ouch. Another intense time of feeling for my Mate. I cannot save him, not from the world, not from himself. I cannot even help him, except to pray. All I can really do is just trust our Shepherd to take care of him. Jesus knows. He sees. He cares. And He is at work in our lives. We belong to Him. He bought us with his blood. We do not deserve His care, his blessing, his mercy. But we have all those things. My Mate and I will both survive this day, this week, these last days apart. The enemy wants us separated, wants us destroyed. But it is not up to him. Jesus is our Savior, and He is our faithful Shepherd, protecting us from the wolves and making sure we have all the shelter and nourishment we need to thrive, for His glory. Deliver us, mighty Lord!

Psalm 31:5-11 ERV

LORD, you are the God we can trust. I put my life in your hands. Save me!
I hate those who worship false gods. I trust only in the LORD.
Your kindness makes me so happy. You have seen my suffering. You know about the troubles I have.
You will not let my enemies take me. You will free me from their traps.
LORD, I have many troubles, so be kind to me. I have cried until my eyes hurt. My throat and stomach are aching.
Because of my sin, my life is ending in grief; my years are passing away in sighs of pain. My life is ending in weakness. My strength is draining away.
My enemies despise me, and even my neighbors have turned away. When my friends see me in the street, they turn the other way. They are afraid to be around me.

Lord, I thank you for the measure of peace and even joy that I have this evening, even while my heart feels broken and lonely and a bit afraid. I know that I can trust you, and I thank you for planting that assurance deep within me, deeper than my own emotions. Thank you for your faithfulness, Lord. I know you got this. I look forward to seeing your healing and restoration, and being able to tell about your goodness in the coming days and months and years. Lead on, Shepherd! 🙂
