Good morning, Father!
Thank you so much for reminding me to be thankful this morning as I started my day! Wow, that REALLY makes a difference!! All night I struggled, trying to give things to you but still feeling anxious and grumpy and having trouble sleeping. Even when I woke up and got out of bed, I was feeling low, frustrated, and grumpy. But after the last couple hours of ongoing praise and thanksgiving, fresh air and exercise, and listening to scripture-based audio, I feel like a different person than I was then! Thank you for restoring my hope and my determination, for helping me to replace grumpiness with cheerful enthusiasm — all through the power of prayer and thanksgiving! Thank you for these simple truths, Lord, and thank you for engrafting them more deeply within me today! 😀
Colossians 4:2 ERV
Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful.
Romans 12:2 ERV
Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.
James 1:21-27 ERV
So get rid of everything evil in your lives–every kind of wrong you do. Be humble and accept God’s teaching that is planted in your hearts. This teaching can save you.
Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing. When you only sit and listen, you are fooling yourselves.
Hearing God’s teaching and doing nothing is like looking at your face in the mirror
and doing nothing about what you saw. You go away and immediately forget how bad you looked.
But when you look into God’s perfect law that sets people free, pay attention to it. If you do what it says, you will have God’s blessing. Never just listen to his teaching and forget what you heard.
You might think you are a very religious person. But if your tongue is out of control, you are fooling yourself. Your careless talk makes your offerings to God worthless.
The worship that God wants is this: caring for orphans or widows who need help and keeping yourself free from the world’s evil influence. This is the kind of worship that God accepts as pure and good.
Lord, I thank you again for the cheerful hope and motivation I have now. I ask you to help me to be humble and to hear your instruction, and follow your leading. Help me to do what you instruct, to take action on your Word and not just store it away “for future reference”. Help me to be a doer of your Word, and let your Word produce good fruit for you, my Lord. Amen!
