Good morning, Father.
Thank you for removing all traces of the curse of this “holiday” from me. Thank you for safety and joy and peace and awareness of all the little things I have to be grateful for. Thank you for the health of my family and my own self, and thank you for your intimate care of my heart, Lord. I give this day to you and ask you to lead me forward in peace and spiritual growth. Amen.

Matthew 5:3-10 ERV

“Great blessings belong to those who know they are spiritually in need. God’s kingdom belongs to them.
Great blessings belong to those who are sad now. God will comfort them.
Great blessings belong to those who are humble. They will be given the land God promised.
Great blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. God will fully satisfy them.
Great blessings belong to those who show mercy to others. Mercy will be given to them.
Great blessings belong to those whose thoughts are pure. They will be with God.
Great blessings belong to those who work to bring peace. God will call them his sons and daughters.
Great blessings belong to those who suffer persecution for doing what is right. God’s kingdom belongs to them.

Lord, please help me to be humble and kind and merciful. Please teach me how to better recognize and accept the comfort you give, and not try to get comfort from stupid things like food or other humans who just let you down. You’ve never let me down, Father. Help me to come to you only, and get my sustenance from you. Thank you, Shepherd.
