Good morning, Father!
Thank you so much for helping me past that terrible stomach trouble yesterday! I thought I was going to throw up, and for a while there I wondered if I was even breathing right. But your mercy was upon me, and I got better. I still feel like I am fighting something off, but I know you are taking care of me, and I will recover. Lord, please show me what to eat today again, to keep my body happy and to heal up. Jesus, I give you my mouth. Show me what is good to put in it, and help me watch what comes out of it!

I Peter 3:10-16 ERV

The Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy true life and have only good days, then avoid saying anything hurtful, and never let a lie come out of your mouth. Stop doing what is wrong, and do good. Look for peace, and do all you can to help people live peacefully. The Lord watches over those who do what is right, and he listens to their prayers. But he is against those who do evil.”
If you are always trying to do good, no one can really harm you. But you may suffer for doing right. If that happens, you have God’s blessing. “Don’t be afraid of the people who make you suffer; don’t be worried.”
But keep the Lord Christ holy in your hearts. Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have. But answer them in a gentle way with respect. Keep your conscience clear. Then people will see the good way you live as followers of Christ, and those who say bad things about you will be ashamed of what they said.

Lord, I can see that even though we are your workmanship and it is You who changes us, we still have a role to play in watching what we say and do. And although it does not matter how others judge us — or even how we judge ourselves — and it only really matters how YOU judge us, still you give us a way to make peace with others. The verses above help me to see that as long as I am staying right before you (clear conscience), I do NOT need to defend myself with my own words. Eventually, others will be ashamed of what they said. Inevitably, my innocence before you will be all that ever matters. Lord, please help me to keep my conscience clear, my heart humbled and exposed before you. Wash me with the water of your Word and create in me a clean heart, one that chooses you. Thank you, Father! đŸ˜€
