Good morning, Father.
Thank you for helping me endure these emotions lately, and not taking them out on anyone around me. Thank you for helping my daughter and I get her all ready for her big trip, and please have mercy and keep her safe. Do the little extra for her, that is in my heart but too private to mention. Care for her, Lord, as you care for me. Please also take good care of my husband today, keep him safe and his body strong. Help him to accept the peace you offer, and to have a calm mind to accept your wisdom and patience and even joy! Please be with me today, help me make progress that pleases you, and not just do whatever I think needs to get done. Please bring awareness and remembrance to me, Lord, help me to keep looking to you throughout the day, even until I go to sleep tonight. Thank you, Father!
1 Samuel 12:19-25 ERV
All the people said to Samuel, “Pray to the LORD your God for us, your servants. Don’t let us die! We have sinned many times. And now we have added to these sins–we have asked for a king.”
Samuel answered, “Don’t be afraid. It is true that you did all these bad things, but don’t stop following the LORD. Serve the LORD with all your heart.
Idols are only statues–they can’t help you. So don’t worship them. Idols can’t help you or save you. They are nothing!
“But the LORD won’t leave his people. No, the LORD was pleased to make you his own people. So for his own good name, he won’t leave you.
And as for me, I would never stop praying for you. If I stopped praying for you, I would be sinning against the LORD. I will continue to teach you the right way to live a good life.
But you must honor the LORD. You must serve him sincerely with all your heart. Remember the wonderful things he has done for you.
But if you are stubborn and do evil, God will throw you and your king away, like dirt swept out with a broom.”
Lord, I thank you for your enduring mercy that you’ve shown to your people throughout the ages. I thank you even for the mercy you showed to your people around the time of King Saul and King David, because these things show us your heart, what you are really like toward your chosen ones. Father, I love your heart, your patience, your kindness, your forgiveness. I love how you are such a worthy King to be served, a worthy Master to live for, and a worthy example to follow at all times. Truly you have made our “burdens” light and simple: just love you, just follow you! Help me to do those things, above all else in this life. Thank you, Lord! 😀
