Good morning, Father.
Thank you for the awesome progress yesterday — not just in accomplishment that can be seen, but mainly in personal growth, moving past some of my barriers (yay!). Now this morning, the enemy has already stood up and taken a direct shot to my heart, and although your shield has protected me from the worst of the damage, I still feel that arrow between my ribs, distracting me and trying to rob me of today’s fruit. I do not want that to happen, Lord. I feel wounded, but so what? We all get wounded — YOU were wounded, even long before you went to the cross. The devil himself tested you in the wilderness, questioning your identity and your faith in your father. I feel like both my identity and my faith are being attacked, Lord. Again. Please let me grow in this, use this as an opportunity to become more stable. And please help me to remember that silly sheep, and not try to fight the wolf myself. Amen!

Psalm 34:2-10 ERV

Humble people, listen and be happy, while I brag about the LORD.
Praise the LORD with me. Let us honor his name.
I went to the LORD for help, and he listened. He saved me from all that I fear.
If you look to him for help, he will put a smile on your face. You will have no need to be ashamed.

As a poor, helpless man I prayed to the LORD, and he heard me. He saved me from all my troubles.
The LORD’S angel builds a camp around his followers, and he protects them.
Give the LORD a chance to show you how good he is. Great blessings belong to those who depend on him!
The LORD’S holy people should fear and respect him. Those who respect him will always have what they need.
Even strong lions get weak and hungry, but those who go to the LORD for help will have every good thing.

Oh, so much awesomeness in these verses! How can anyone NOT be in love with the Living God, who cares so diligently and so faithfully for us? Lord, please help me to be humble. I am tired of my ways, trying desperately — foolishly — to defend myself. Help me to notice that I am doing that WHEN I am doing that, not just afterwards. Grow me in this weak place, Lord. Replace my weakness with your strength. I give you my right to defend myself. YOU are my defender and my protector. Thank you, Mighty Shepherd! 😀
